Tidus recognized a losing battle. But then he had an idea. A sly, worm of an idea. Time to change tactics. "Yeah, you're probably right. I bet you wouldn't be able to do it."
"Are you suggestion we make a wager out of this?" Rikku gleefully rubbed her hands together, forgetting all about the potential danger. She hopped up and down, pictuing all the good stuff she'd be able to legally buy. That hat she'd seen in the marketplace would be her first purchase. "Well, my good sir, what are we putting on the table?"
"I bet you 100 gil that you can't kiss Auron. Right on the smacker. With everyone watching."
"Only a hundred?" Rikku sighed and rolled her eyes. "That's petty cash. Don't insult me. I'm putting my life on the line, Tidus. And besides, I'm doing you a favor. If this goes according to plan, you'll be snuggling up to Yunie tonight, interruption free. Let's up it to 500 gil."
Tidus gulped and ran his hands through his hair; his control over the situation was slipping out of reach. "Make it 300 and we have a deal."
"Done, oh high and honorable Maester of the Society of Awesome." Rikku turned around, walking backwards in order to size up her intended target. "Easy-peasy," she said with a grin. "He won't know what hit him."
"Wow, you're actually pretty evil sometimes, you know that? Any second now you're going to burst out in some sort of diabolical laughter."
"No time for your insane stupidity now, Tidus. It's time to earn some gil."
Boasting to Tidus was one thing while actually doing the deed was another thing altogether. Rikku toyed with the idea of simply asking Auron and maybe even splitting her wins 50/50, but more likely than not he'd look at her as if she'd gone mad, tell Yuna that Rikku suddenly had to go on a long trip so far away that she'd never come back, and then throuw the unfortunate Al Bhed off a cliff.
