jaebilityThe first winds of winter whispered across the field of Hyrule and I shivered and pulled my cloack tighter around my shoulders. The green mantle had been a gift from my Dark Lord; I had been surprised to receive such a thoughtful and useful present when we had barely spoken for weeks. Ganondorf had been even more aloof than usual - he slept alone in his tower and refused all my invitations to dine. I allowed the thread between us to stretch all the farther - I spent my days riding the snowdusted plains.
The afternoon was bright but frigid; stubborn as I was I refused to retreat to the castle to warm my tingling limbs. Instead I urged my horse forward and we galloped through the snow drifts, she kicking up storm clouds of white behind us. I twisted my head briefy to watch our path be hidden my the churning snow before I turned my face upward to smile at the heavens. The blue sky was a stark contrast to the muted colors of Hyrule Field.
I pushed myself up on the saddle and she sped into a full run. The bitter wind stole my laughter and the tears that steamed from my stinging eyes but the exileration of the ride was enough to keep me warm. We tore across the plains, slicing through the freezing air like a knife.
