Grumbling, I set aside my now empty dinner plate and pulled off the soiled pants. I threw them on top of the pile that had accumilated in the corner and considered putting on a pair of less dirty pants until I did laundry. Dropping to my knees I searched through the pile but everything was stained with mud - I had been doing a great deal of riding since I discovered the horses. I stood up and looked down at my naked legs; the tunic I wore came down low enough so that my bottem wasn't exposed so I decided to throw caution into the wind and run about in the castle pantless. Gerudos be damned - they could hardly reproach me when they danced around practically in the nude.
I grabbed as many clothes as I could in an armful and pushed the bedroom door open with my backside (fortunately I recieved no splinters). It was hard holding onto so many clothes while navigating through the mazy hallways, but the kitchen wasn't too far from my room and I made it there alive. The light from the hall's torches was enought to allow me to walk in without stumbling so I dumped my pile unceremoniously onto the ground and collapsed into a chair.
The kitchen had fallen into disrepair since the thieves had infested the castle. They ate their own food from the desert and thus had ignored the kitchen completely. I used it for making small meals from the fish I caught in the lake and the few vegetables that struggled to grow in the garden but otherwise it remained empty. It looked a whole lote scarier at night and I shivered in spite of myself.
I grabbed a torch from the hall and used it to light the few that were in the kitchen. I couldn't help but feel relieved when the shadows disappeared. I bent down next to the fireplace and lit the wood. The red flames crackled and I put my hands up to their warmth. ...How strange it was, my whole situation.
I clapped my hands, "Time to get to work!" My voice was comforting in the dark and even though I berated my silliness, I began to talk outloud. "First I'll get the water boiling."
No royal kitchen would be complete without running water and the castle's kitchen was no exception. I had washed the large cauldren out after dinner so all I needed to do for laundry was fill it with water. I lugged the two wooden buckets that sat in the corner to the sink and let the cold water splash down into them.
