OMG Coraline fic! I assume the first is movie!verse?

Yep! :D I love book!Coraline, too, I've got a soft spot for Wybie, so my fanfics are movie-based.

*nodnod* Same and same, though I actually haven't done Coraline fic. (For the same reason I've never done Spirited Away fic: it seems very, very difficult to age up the characters, and I'm not really good at writing kids.)

Oh, uh, btw! When you are done with them, you should totally post them at princeofstories!

You should write Coraline AND Spirited Away fics! I'd love to read your interpretations of both sets of characters. You handle Yuffie so incredibly well; I'm sure your Coraline and Sen/Chihiro would be just as kick-ass.

I'm flattered, really, but I don't really like writing about children younger than 15, and if I aged either Chihiro or Coraline up to compensate, they'd be very difficult to recognize. If I was lucky, I might be able to keep the core personalities. Maybe.

(Though every now and then, I find myself wanting to write a Teenaged-Chihiro-Encounters-Haku-IRL fic. My problem is I can't see her as a teenager. Okay, I can, but... That's just not a place I'd like to visit without watching the movie several times in one day, in both languages, and taking copious notes. And the instant I do that, I'll have to leave fandom, because that is just too obsessive.)

I hear ya. To me, people don't get interesting until they hit their teenage years; before that, I find their POV too hard to write, and a lot of time too boring to read. But! I maintain that you could write a convincing older!Coraline or Chihiro. Doooooo itttttt.

I just watched Spirited Away movie (for the thousandth time) last week, and the idea of her re-establishing her relationship with Haku is eeeeeeeeee so intriguing. I was reminded of this Chinese myth I read as a kid about a ghost/spirit marriage. Of course that was a Chinese rather than Japanese tradition, so it doesn't really fit into the Spirited Away universe, but the idea that a marriage can meld the human and spirit worlds really interested me.

Also, fandom means never having to say your sorry doubt your sanity! If watching a movie numerous times in a day while frantically scribbling away in a notebook is wrong, then I don't want to be right!
