Title: Death by Chocolate
Fandom: Digimon 02
Characters: Willis, Mimi
Prompt: Writer's Choice: Valentine's Day
Word Count: 536
Rating: PG
Summary: Celebrating February 15th and unrequited love.
Author's Notes: I'm messing quite a bit with the storyline of Digimon 02; take that, canon! This story, as well as the others for the fanfic100 challenge, will assume that the second half of the season did not occur. Instead, Ken *chose* to be the Kaiser and then *chose* to be redeemed. And only the Chosen Children have digimon, not the entire world. I'm using Willis' American-dub name, rather than Wallace (simply because I like the name Willis more), but I will be using the Japanese names for the other characters. My little table.

"Look! Another one was just delivered!" Mimi closed the door, shaking her glorious mane of now-scarlet colored hair. She held out the white, heart-stamped box to me for inspection. "A day late! And more chocolate! Don't they know I'm on a diet? Honestly, boys are so inconsiderate!"

"What's worse? That he was tardy or unoriginal?" I yanked open the lid and poked of the dark lumps. "More for me, then. Gimme gimme. Fuck, it's coconut. Ew. Here, want this one?"

"You already ate half of it!"

"So, half the calories. I don't have cooties, swear to god. I was inoculated as a child."

Mimi plucked the half-eaten coconut catastrophe of a chocolate from my hand and threw it in the direction of the trash can. It fell short by at least a foot. "She shoots, she scores!"

"Don't be sassy or you can't have more chocolates."

The stack of heart-shaped candy boxes teetered on the coffee table, blocking the TV. Most were from chocolate shops in New York, but we counted three from Paris, two from Tokyo, two from Geneva, two from London, and inexplicably, one from Tasmania. I'd already finished off the French and English ones and was working on the Japanese - A delicious multicultural affair of stickiness. "Oh yeah? I'm doing you a favor, you know. If I don't eat 'em, that means you'll have it. And just think of what that'll do you're girlish figure."

She didn't bother looking up. "You're being sassy again."

The last color she had chosen for her toenails had been lacking - And besides, no sane person would have Valentine's Day Red Heart nail polish on the day after Valentine's day. Perish the thought. With swift, sure hands, the surgeon (Mimi) prepped the patient (her toes) and began the operation (painting said toes). The offensive red was stripped off ("Damn, that nail polish remover smells like monkey ass." "Now how would you know that?") and her steady hands applied the first coat with neat strokes.

"Is it wrong that I'm getting turned on by that?"

"Yes. Now be quiet and eat more chocolate. But not too much; it's not healthy. Ooh! how about you come to yoga with me tonight?"

"Because I'd rather shoot myself in the face. Think this one is caramel or marzipan?"

"I think you're getting a little soft in the stomach." She leaned across the couch and poked me unkindly. "Yoga will be fun!"

"At least I'm not soft in the head. In a double-blind trial conducted by Gather College's illustrious medical department, researchers deduced that regular yoga activities led to not only a decrease in electroencephalography signals, but also an increase of -"

"Maybe I should have made chocolates this year."

"I'll forgive your rude interruption if you make me chocolates. And then you can put on your old school uniform and -"

"I wonder if Dai-chan or Ken-chan made chocolates. Or maybe they're both waiting for White Day." She screwed the cap back onto the bottle of polish and wiggled her toes. "Ooh, it's such a cute color! What do you think, Willis? Are you ok? You look kinda of funny. Too much chocolate?"

"No. Maybe." If Daisuke made Ichijouji chocolate, I hoped he choked on it. I crumbled the wrapper and flung it into the trash can.
