Light challenge (

She rode his horse out of the crumbling castle. She didn't have time for a saddle or a bridle - with the ground under her feet shaking and the sky above her burning, it was all she could do to hold on as the stallion tore across the courtyard.
She spared one glance over her shoulder. Behind her the tallest stone tower toppled and crashed like thunder to the earth. She could almost convince herself that she saw him before the black clouds that had surrounded the castle swallowed the scene completely, but it was all darkness and chaos and smoke and her red hair whipped around her face and the wind brought tears to her eyes and blurred her vision.
Over the collapsed draw bridge they raced and Malon didn't stop the horse until they reached her ranch. There, at the gates, she slowed him and wiped her face on her sleeve and looked again toward Hyrule's center.
She could see little - the storm still raged and blanketed the castle in darkness. But here, out in the fields, Malon could see the sun.

One thing I like about the Ganondorf/Malon couple is the fact that they won't have a happy ending. ACtually, I don't know if I really like that - but it does make writing stories more interesting. They come together with no expectations, both know that they can't have a relationship out of the castle, but they grow fond of each other in spite of it all. And then, to top it all off, he has to be defeated and imprisoned forever in another realm while, due to the ocarina and Zelda's attempts to make amends, their time together is completely erased from history and Malon's memories of him are wiped. Good times!
And I hope you keep writing Zelda/Ganondorf! I really liked "Reconnaissance" and am eagerly awaiting more. :) Get back to writing, you!
