Title: The Sin of Inaction Having Old Roots
Characters/Pairings: Vincent Valentine, Grimoire Valentine
Rating/Type: G
Team: Turks
Word Count: 100
Prompt: #23 - Deadly Sin: Sloth

.

Vincent did not know if he loved his father, but he did know he secretly feared him. This was true even though his father hardly spoke harsh words and never raised an open hand. His father treated him with exuberance and encouragement yet Vincent shrank into shadows, avoiding expectations of ever continuing Dr. Grimoire Valentine’s world-famous work.

Vincent did exactly what his parents and teachers expected, exactly to the letter. No more, no less. One might call this passiveness but no one could accuse him of indolence, at least not until his father’s funeral which Vincent failed to attend.

When I was at the botanical garden, I went into the glasshouse this time to look at the butterflies. I must have timed it right near a release because there were butterflies galore. One rested in my hair for awhile, and I got one to sit on my hand, too. I wanted to share a few of the pictures I took. I hope you like them! :D

hello im Allie! it's not my real name; i just like a bit of anonymity. i've fallen out of blogging (thanks tumblr) so my writing is a bit rusty.

anyway, i am a 20 something currently working in the "it's not free if it doesn't scan ive heard this joke before 6 million times" industry. i went to university, got depressed, dropped out, went back after 3 years and just finished my first year back. hoping i graduate next year (crossing my fingers i don't bail this time) and earn a better living so i can live by the beach with dogs and pursue my dream of owning a small shop on the side.

i have a couple hobbies: baking, going on really long walks, collecting receipts, and playing bad shows on Netflix in the background. i finally got around to watching gilmore girls and the revival. i am also a fan of brooklyn 99 and superstore. im not... a movie person. the last movie i've loved was whiplash. i'm always open to recs, just never sure when i'll get around to them. my to watch list still includes The Godfather.

i'm not at all a picky eater. i love going on food adventures and trying new things. by new things, i mean by going to a new sushi place. i live in Vancouver; i live in an expensive heaven. my ideal food combo consists of sushi, yam fries and matcha-flavoured sweets.

right now, i am learning to let go of my hoarder like ways byway of Marie Kondo and i am liking where it's going. im learning that if i had to re-start uni i would've majored in sociology or psychology. i love observing people. i like going to coffee shops by busy intersections and people watch... but i digress. i tend to be rambly, hope that's ok...

I'm sort of trying to find something...fandom friends, or maybe just friends.

I'm looking for ppl over 18. Preferably towards my end of the age spectrum. Lgbt parents. People into femslash and people who aren't overly into m/m pairing in their fandoms. People who get social anxiety. Poets and writers.

Anyone else. I don't mind

I'm 35, bi, genderfluid, married with a kid. I live in Wales, I work in a pharmacy and write fiction and poetry too.

I've got five cats and four chickens.

I will always love Stargate (SG-1 and SGA) and Trek (TNG, DS9, VOY) I have passing interests in other and currently love Dragon Age, MCU, Steven Universe, Brooklyn 99. I don't write as much fanfic as I used to still have a lot of ideas peculating up there. I miss being part of fandom though I've always felt like I was on the fringes.

I ship f/f and het mostly, and I read that too but I will write anything. Any pairing. I'm either mental or gifted. Not sure which.

I love old films from the beggining to the 70s. Love MST3K. The new series was great. I love crap films, I hate reboots but I will watch them sometimes.

I have a post here that has more about me if you want to check it out.

PROMPT #23 - DEADLY SIN: SLOTH

Jun. 20th, 2017 06:11 pm

AAAGH. I'm so sorry, you guys! I don't know where my head is this week. Okay, so here's what we'll do - next week's prompt will go up on Monday as usual, but this week's will run until Tuesday and I'll announce the winners then. Again, I apologize.

Not for nothing, the Turks ran away with the Lust trophy this week. Well, what do you expect with the team with the sexiest theme music? ;)

This week's prompt is #23 - Deadly Sin: Sloth

On the flip side of the virtue of diligence we have sloth: a difficult sin to define, though one working definition is "a habitual disinclination to exertion". Slothful people may fail to contribute to the society they depend on, or simply talk about a goal rather than work to achieve it. This week, write some drabbles about some lazy characters.

Is Heidegger leaving his duties for his underlings to take care of? Is Zack taking a nap in the church while the wheelbarrow languishes unfixed? Are the Shinra security guards too busy playing poker to watch out for AVALANCHE? Vincent procrastinated for 30 years, but can he still learn a thing or two about messing around from Yuffie? Finally, is Sephiroth taking a break from doing Mother's bidding to mess with Cloud's head?

The characters may be slothful, but we're busy bees! 100 words at a time.

+1 pretentious weeb!

NAME: Ryu, or Daley outside of DW/roleplay.

AGE: 25, can't wait to be whatever the male equivalent of a Christmas Cake is next year!

INTERESTS & HOBBIES: Animals, anime, art, computers/electronics, food, foreign languages and the cultures associated with them (spanish especially), goth garbage, halloween, LGBTQ stuff, monsters, movies and tv shows, music, roleplay, shiba inu puppers (I own one!), video games, writing... Wow, I'm so unique!!!

LOOKING FOR: I suppose I'm just looking for people who share common interests with me at the moment. I've linked my profiles for MyAnimeList, etc., above if anybody wants more specific details on my fandoms of choice. My main fandoms are Aikatsu!, Pokemon, and Yu-Gi-Oh! though. I'm not into live action stuff as much as I am with cartoons and I'm not big into popular live action canons either, so no SPN or MCU for me.

ANYTHING ELSE?: I'd like to think of myself as an open-minded guy, although I don't take other people's bullshit easily. I deal with fibromyalgia, mental illness, insomnia, crippling perfectionism, gender dysphoria, and my body generally being a giant unwanted mess, and I'm trying to live life as drama-free as I can while crossing my fingers that I can get my brain transplanted into a new body and mysteriously find a million dollars in my bank account. Puns, sarcasm, and self-deprecation are my bread and butter for lifting my spirits. Icon related.

Fannish Interests: I read and write fan fic. I occasionally write meta about shows or about writing fan fic. My reading habits are pretty much all over the place, and I sometimes read fandoms where I haven't seen a lot of the canon material if I know the writer or if the writer was bookmarked by a writer I like. I love long fics and alternate universes. And crossovers.

Heinlein (also a trainwreck) Genre: science fiction and fantasy, some horror

Comics:
ElfQuest, Sandman, Some Marvel X-Titles, Books of Magic, Some Indie things I don't remember the name of.

Other Info: I write about personal life issues and mental health issues on my blog. I also write about my various efforts to support myself which have not been entirely successful. I write original fiction though not very much due to the aforementioned mental health issues. (I am slowly overcoming the problem though, and am looking forward to eventually posting more original fiction to my fic journal.) I am working on getting more of my older fan fic up on my AO3 account.

I have no idea what I'm doing...

About Me/Other Info: So, I'm new to dreamwidth, but my wife has had an account forever and she thinks it's a cool place, plus I was just getting into Imzy and it went bust so I thought I'd try out dreamwidth. Truthfully, because of working-class life experiences and a misspent youth, I just discovered fandom and fanfic about 2 years ago even though I've been reading sff (and everything else I could get my hands on) since I was a kid. So, yeah. I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm a pretty great cook. I just graduated with a master's in gender and sexuality and have a bachelor's in history (first-gen college graduate). I like collecting original art and prints from queer and fat and queer fat artists. I write poetry, but most of it is terrible. I come up with great ideas for stories and/or books, but never seem to follow through. I hope that changes now that I'm done with school. Tattoos are awesome and so are cats.

Sadly, I didn't have a phone on hand to try to get a photo.

But I just found out that a startled fox on a London balcony will, if feeling cornered, drop two storeys onto the top of a garden wall, bounce off that onto the ground, land with somewhat less dignity than it had intended but apparently without injury, and trot off hurriedly.

In my defense, I really didn't mean to make the fox feel cornered; it's just that my immediate, automatic response to "unexpected furry cat-sized creature" is "stay still, make crooning noises at it, try to edge a bit closer." Had I fled, it would have been able to go round to the other side of the balcony, where you only have to drop down half a storey to an adjacent roof.

ETA: I can't help noticing that there is a very well-chewed yellow foam ball on my balcony, which I did not put there.

Also, by way of apology, I have left a dish of water out on the balcony, because it is a heatwave.
